When you are on the housing market, looking for a house that meets your families needs as well as having some of those desired extras, it can be a bit difficult to keep track of the details. At Wharton Law we aim to help our clients throughout the whole home buying process, and today we’d like to share some of our best tips on how you can easily find the right home for you and your family. Below you will find some tips on finding your perfect home.
Prioritize
Before you even begin your search, take the time to prioritize what you need in your home. It is easy to get romanced by those aspects of a home that you don’t necessarily need, but absolutely love, and not realize that there is a significant need that will not be met with a home. In order to avoid that struggle, be clear and write down the priorities. Examples here would be the right amount of rooms for your growing family, a family room so that you can complete your goal of spending time together, a large backyard for the children and pets to play in and grow.
Taking notes
After you’ve begun looking, and seen quite a few homes, it can be hard to keep track of what each house had to offer.Taking notes and making comparisons is a great way to keep this information fresh. After seeing a group of homes, evaluate which homes meet your needs, and any homes that do not, eliminate them from the pile.
Walk through
Once you’re getting closer to finding the right place, you should take the time to walk through the home. Now, we recommend that you don’t just walk through once, rather at least twice. The first time, walk through and just see what there is to be seen. Notice those beautiful bay windows, or that spacious kitchen. The second time you walk through, be more critical. Take note of those little details you’d have to fix, or those details that are just perfect the way they are.
Envision
Lastly, take a moment to envision your family in the space. Is this a place you can truly see your family growing together? Does it fit your lifestyle? Imagine holidays and summer days in the space and decide if this is really what you’re looking for.
Once you’ve found a home that passes the test, and you’ve completed your final walkthrough, know that the last step you should complete is to ensure the home has had a proper title search and can be provided with title insurance.
